When Western Logistics opened its Dartmouth Terminal it late 2007, some major innovations came with it: “full-map” coverage to all areas of Atlantic Canada with no hand-offs; zone rates (a company first) with no beyond charges; direct service to Newfoundland; and full service for business electronics – all with 100% company personnel and equipment. The results have been gratifying, and the Atlantic operation is experiencing very fast growth even in the soft Canadian economy. read PDF

January 2009: Ontario adopts Zones improving Regional Service, reducing Regional Rates
In its constant desire to simplify process, Western Logistics is adopting rate zones from coast to coast in Canada. The benefit of rate zones is that they provide uniform rates and service for all points, big and small, within a particular zone, as well as eliminate combination or “beyond” rates to secondary or tertiary centres. read PDF
November 2008: Western Logistics upgrades Regional Service to Northern Ontario
For over a year now, Western Logistics has operated weekly schedules into Northern Ontario to test the water. “Now we’re getting ready to ramp up to twice-weekly or more to better serve our clients in the office furniture industry,” said Jim Decker, Eastern Division Manager. read PDF
October 2008: Western Logistics to open Saskatoon Terminal October 15, 2008
The start-up facility is about 5000 sq. ft. with two loading doors and ample yard space for staging extra trailers. “This facility will certainly take some pressure off our Regina facility, where we’ve been struggling to cope,” said Ray Berg, Manager Saskatchewan Operations. “Our new set-up will let us handle large projects better. April 2008: Great Lakes Service Begins!

March 2008: Major Expansion at Vancouver Terminal Warehouse and Trailer Yard
Only four years after the original move-in, Vancouver was fitted with an 8,000 sq. ft. structural mezzanine in February. “This greatly enhances our capacity for project storage,” said Kim Varhaug, Terminal Manager, “and there’s going to be huge demand shaping up for this kind of quality furniture storage in Vancouver as we ramp up to the 2010 Winter Olympics. Now we can bring in about 15 more trailer-loads, and it’s starting to look like most of the space will be spoken for by the end of March, 2008! And having the new trailer parking lets us stage 20 more units outside for processing.” read PDF
February 2008: Scheduled Service to Great Lakes area to Begin April 1, 2008
“A lot of furniture dealers are about to experience a quality of service that exceeds anything they’ve known before,” said Mike Uhl, Terminal Manager, Holland, MI. “We have a set of scheduled runs (see sketch) that will operate with precision out of Holland with new truck and trailer equipment, and a team of drivers who know both the product and the territory. January 2008: Land Acquired for New Toronto Distribution Centre
“What are we going to do with all this space?” asked Jim Decker, Division Manager, when the then-new 30,000 foot 12- door facility was completion in Brampton in 1998. Well, Jim and his people found lots it, outgrew it, and ten years later we’re starting all over again, this time 36 loading doors on seven acres of land on the new Drew Road extension Airport Road in Mississauga, close to YYZ. read PDF
December 2007: Atlantic Canada: Rate Zones and Regional Routes Defined
New equipment is arriving to set up regional service throughout Atlantic Canada. The spotless Dartmouth Distribution Centre is functioning even better than anticipated.
“We’re hiring some awesome people to operate the new trucks that are arriving soon. We’re all working hard, as proud as peacocks of our new capabilities,” said Erick Haines, Terminal Manager. “The customers clearly approve of our new services, and the proof is in the rapid growth which is starting.” read PDF
October 2007: Scheduled Service to Newfoundland to Begin December 1, 2007
Western Logistics is about to make its long-term dream of a nation-wide service come true on December 1, when regular scheduled service to all major points in Newfoundland will begin formally. “When our specialized trucks come off the ferry at Port-aux-Basques to begin the 500-mile trip across Newfoundland, serving points along the way to St. John’s, it will be a very exciting day for Western Logistics,” said Bob Hartin, CEO and founder of Western Logistics. “It took us almost 18 years to get here, but now we’re here to stay!” read PDF
September 2007: Atlantic Canada, here we come!
On October 1, 2007, Western Logistics will establish Centre in Burnside Industrial Park, Dartmouth, as the base communities in all four provinces of Atlantic Canada. Erick will manage this terminal, which features over 9,000 sq. two cube-van doors, and lots of truck space for the ultimate shipments for a complex market. read PDF

July 2007: Kelowna Terminal to open August 1, 2007
There’s a real buzz happening within Western Logistics as it prepares to open a new regional service centre serving the Southern Interior of British Columbia. On August 1, Western Logistics will start direct loading into Kelowna to improve service to the resellers of furniture in the Okanagan-Thompson-Kootenay area, one of the most beautiful (and hard-to-serve!) places on the planet. read PDF
May 2007: Progress Report: New Saint-Laurent Terminal Comes out of Ground
In March, it was just a picture and a plan. In May, it is taking shape very rapidly, as 600 truck loads of top-soil are being removed for screening into landscape material, all being replaced by a structural steel skeleton which will soon house the Québec operations of Western Logistics. The site is perfect in every sense: environmentally perfect, geo-technically perfect, and located perfectly for future growth in an area of Saint-Laurent near Montreal’s Techno-Parc, a sophisticated area of research and high-tech operations, close to the Trans-Canada and all key transportation arteries. read PDF
